I have been living my life in these. Why?
Here are 20 reasons:
- They are wool and keep me warm in winter.
- They do not need to be washed as much as your cotton trousers.
- You will be taken more seriously if you don them at work.
- Pinstripes symbolise power sartorially speaking and professionally so.
- These trousers are comfortable.
- You can easily move around in these.
- They match any smart shirt within its range of formality.
- The movement when you walk make the trousers even more flattering.
- The straight cut has been in style for the last 100 years and will be for another.
- They dress up your casual outfits.
- They are well made.
- They are high quality.
- They match with all colour seasons.
- You can wear them in Spring, Autumn, and Winter.
- Wearing them instantly makes you polished and feel confident.
- You look like you know what you are doing, because people always trust an immaculately dressed individual.
- People will treat you better, because you are dressed up.
- People will take you a little more seriously.
- They are lightweight yet warm.
- You can wear them at any age and look good.

I have the navy version, yet the parchment pair are the ones I reach for on a routinely basis, because I am 5’2.5″/1,6m and they are a touch shorter than the navy trousers. Heels are definitely something to be paired with the navy ones for some reason. They are not exactly the same with slightly different pockets in the back, designed with the same ratio of fibres: wool and a synthetic (I forgot at the moment, but it is mentioned in this video).
Ralph Lauren is one of my favourite brands, because it is the story of the American dream, and a young Jewish man who loves timeless style. In addition, if you ever find vintage Ralph Lauren, the quality is even better. The expansion of the brand was so fast and vast that cutting supply and labour costs are their priority, so those oldies but goodies are definitely worth keeping an eye out for. Simply make sure it is in excellent condition before purchasing. I have found myself some gems on Vestiaire Collective as you can see in this video.
I am a huge fan of Ralph Lauren’s style, because it is a nod to the aristocratic version of the English Countryside, yet also a warm welcome to the American Frontier. Those two distinct features of the brand in its various subdivisions excite dressing up as a part of your daily routine for multiple generations.
Outside of that tier of style and timeless design thinking, there is the trend of old money style as an ‘aesthetic’. To me, old money is an entire attitude and way of life, rather than an image to be seen dressed up in costume. Ralph Lauren bleeds prep school and polished everyday wear. Old money is another phrase meaning, ‘I do not care to impress you with my knowledge and upkeep of today’s fashion. I simply exist.’
Call it highfalutin if it pleases you, but I am a fan of the inviting colours, approachable cuts, and adherence to tradition that existed before the brand was established. Its understanding of its demographic’s heritage makes you look. like you effortlessly had it in your closet, and it could possibly even be handed down from your grandfather’s wardrobe.
This is something highlighted in Ralph Lauren Home. The textures, fibres, and supplies are all familiar, because they are supposed to spark that comfortable livable appeal that reflects memories of your dad’s old shirt, grandma’s pearls, and mom’s warm hugs. Something like that. I had a different childhood, but fully absorb his home ideas. It is not entirely modern or contemporary. There are updated touches of the way things are polished, but they still look like they could have been apposite on a Downton Abbey set. There is a sense of history in everything from Ralph Lauren’s tartan drapes to rifle patch coats.
Ralph Lauren has an accessible type of luxury that can be worn and lived in everyday. My father in law was actually the one who introduced me to the Purple Label. His LinkedIn account makes me laugh, because he dons a dinner jacket in his profile photo, yet I know him to be the British guy in cargo shorts on Manhattan Beach.
‘I clean up well,’ is what Lauren by Ralph Lauren and Purple Label say. At a quick visit to Bergdorf’s (I think around 57th Street), my husband and I touched every detail of the store. Oh, and of course, all the clothes in it. We were so inspired by the cashmere and wool details that we had to march our way through the winds to the Ladies Ralph Lauren and Gentlemen’s Ralph Lauren across the street from each other. Worth it!

At the time of the NYC Bespoke Luxury Shopping Trip (above), these trousers did not come in the mail just yet. Eager to arrive to a parcel waiting for me at the door, I filmed it with multiple takes in all angles first thing for my haul vlog to share the utter excitement in sizing, design, and wearability. The size is a bit large for me as you can see in the first video in the beginning of this vlog visually expressing the difference in waist sizes. However, I kept them, because they are more forgiving to my back side. I have a really small waist and extremely curvaceous measurements at 27-26-37. You will see in an update vlog and blog post me bringing these to a tailor with several other trousers pairs to be taken in at the waist. A very much needed visit, indeed.
I also think I will hem the navy trousers a bit, so I can wear them more. Furthermore, when I do put them on, the public seems to not get enough. Being showered with compliments appears to be the name of the game when I wear these wool blended babies. whether it is somewhere professional or casual. The positive words know no bounds.

As you can see, I am dripping in the American label, and am honoured to be surrounded by all my favourite materials. Cotton, wool, and silk. There is nothing I would rather live my life in, because polyester makes you sweaty and stiff. You look like the most elegant person in the room anywhere you go when wearing these trousers, or anything Ralph Lauren. Let us face it. It is not the type of first impression when you see someone driving a Ferrari. It is catching looks every time you turn to see individuals staring at your subtle style statements.
