Solid woods are my favourite types of furniture, because I inherited pieces that are two hundred and some three hundred years old shipped from Germany. The only reason they lasted so long is because they are made of solid wood. When dropped on the ground, they still held up, and are difficult to also push over. 

This is fantastic news considering we are looking at masterpieces that provide both form and function as this is our final legacy home. After that, the children can inherit the pieces in their rooms when headed off to university if they choose.

I needed something to store my silverware after cleaning them. A while ago, I created a vlog on cleaning all the silverware in our Hollywood Hills, California home taking eight hours for five days. In Mr. Dixon’s side of the closet, I am finding he does not really have a place to store his cufflinks. I only have one pair and would like some place to store my beautiful rose gold Hawes & Curtis pair. However, the top drawer in his dresser will not cut it. My jewellery box situation is a nightmare. I have gone through so many jewellery boxes only for them to break in all forms. They have a tendency to fall apart when not made from sturdy materials as these are. I also love that you can hang your jewellery inside. The fauly of my shopping has always been one or the other type of jewellery box. This has both storing your gems lying down and hanging.

I was thinking about this jewellery box as my first pick, but am not sure of how we are building this part of the house from scratch. We cannot decide between light woods or darker hues to fill our closet when we make it bespoke. I am thinking of keeping this in the original house, and then getting another for when we build the new one.

Having a coat closet is my goal for the front of the house when greeting guests. However, Kentucky is famous for having multiple entrances to the home. Farmhouses especially are used to having side front doors for the farmer to get up by the primary bedroom first thing to get started working on the farm. This is perfect for inside the closet when hanging the items you regularly plan on using that week.
