I am really bad at posting on time, and social media in general. Sharing my personal details is not something I am good at or necessarily aspire to be better at, because I am really private. Style and simple vlogs are very vague on my channel and blog with only small things I prefer to share. When it comes to blurting out every insignificant idea — it is just not me. Hence, this post that is over a month late.
The problem with my birthday is that it is in February, but the very end of the month. February 28, 1995. Celebrating the day I came to this Earth is something I was taught by my father to be quite special. Putting an emphasis on a day to mark your entrance to the world is an event I also do my best to stress with friends and family when it comes to theirs. It is important as human beings to share milestones and all the big and small reasons to be alive.

I am not one of those people who says, ‘It’s just another day.’ In fact, I feel bad for those who do not treasure or are grateful for such a big deal. Typically, these are individuals who also do not do a good job of keeping up with those who love them. Life is so veritably short, and not worth spending time with those who support you. They choose to be in your life. They put effort to make you a part of their day. Taking that for granted is a crime.
Those who turn down a remarkable occasion are missing out on the imperative moments that create a meaningful life. A financial advisor who dealt with lots of high earning clients conceded these customers all stated the same prevailing sentiment: I did not wish I worked more or made more money. I wish I spent more time with my family.
Something along those lines.
That is something those in their last moments regret at the end of their life.
I wanted to create a beautiful post about getting older, which I wrote several times, recording drafts in a vlog. It still has not come to fruition for some reason. Looking through my footage, I want to edit it, but something tells me to share this message instead. At least on the blog at the moment. If I do update this, you will be the first to know at a revisit to this post. I am twenty-eight and my life has not felt like it has started yet.

Some lessons I learnt the past year
1. You cannot speed up everything and there are things that simply take time.
A good example of this is having a baby. You can plan all you want, and do all the things to prepare. The baby is still not coming just yet. Not everything appears in your hands just because you are ready for it. There are some things you cannot control even if you have your life, finances, and mind at the finish line.
2. Quality, no matter the price, is worth saving for.
I used to buy so much junk that looked the part, but did not act the part. Following trends had me constantly keeping up with something I did not care about until I found my signature style. This is because trends are usually cheaply made and the things worth keeping are also worth passing down generations. From now on, I am only purchasing lifetime goods that I actually wear almost everyday.
This dress I am donning in the photos was a dress I only wore one other time at Frank Gehry’s Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles when my dear husband took me to the symphony. I believe it was Bruckner. He knows I love romantic symphonies and is tasteful when choosing a selection of music! I plan to wear this dress many more times, hand it around to those in my family who also love it, and used to purchase quite a bit of asymmetrical styles a few years ago. This blue, almost periwinkle, is one of my favourite colours. The style is not entirely me anymore, but it is a simple statement that is now a small piece of who I used to be. The trend-follower.
Now, I am saving to head to my Huntsman Savile Row tailor for a couple vicuña coats for Mr. Dixon and me. But first, I must buy another large luxury lifetime investment: a parcel of land with a house! An item is worth it if you can hand it down generations, it is still in style, and makes the person wearing it look and feel elegant.

3. Take things slow even though life feels fast.
Everything good in life is worth sacrificing for. This includes sacrificing time and effort little by little everyday. I used to be the type of person who would binge information in a single 24 hours, and though it got me far, I could not focus on other important things around me. All the little details in life are worth savouring aside from the big projects. I want to excel at everything I touch, so putting the time in everyday with a couple hours toward each thing is better than mastering one thing in ten hours daily and neglecting everything else.
People think that I am hard on others, when the truth is I am going easy on them, because I am a thousand times harder on myself. Only those who are present in my everyday life understand. I swing on both extremes of either working myself until I lose ten pounds at the computer from not getting up to eat at the right times everyday to lying on the beach on a month long holiday getting tan. Finally, I found somewhat of a middle ground.
Things are just getting started.
This is going to be one of the biggest years of my life, because of the big change. We moved across the country from the glamorous Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles, and now to the middle of nowhere. Mr. Dixon took me on a date in the countryside and I am really excited for the quiet life. The anxiety has left my body, no one can bother me, and we will have a farm of our own. Building a house from scratch on about 100 acres feels like building my own kingdom. Designing everything is going to be so much fun along with creating a curriculum for the little ones. A majority of our clothes are going to be bespoke as our properties also are. Life is going to be a bit different, and you will also see this reflected in my style.
