Looking like a million bucks does not have to be complicated. As a matter of fact, the simpler the better. I love statement pieces that do all the talking. But they do not have to do tons of screaming or peacocking. In this post, I am going to focus on things that are taken for granted that actually upgrade your workwear. A well made blazer is easy to throw on, but some items are forgotten about without the realisation that these are imperative too.
Here are some simply elegant looks that are serious enough for the workplace, and effortless enough to wear:

I’m going to do something interesting and work backwards today, because shoes finish your outfit. This ensemble has to be smart, on the go, and comfortable enough for long day wear. If it covers the toes, it is always office ready, and a boot especially supports the top of your foot for hours of utility. It makes sense, works with your straight leg strousers you can breathe in, and is versatile for off day adventures.
Your base layer
Everyone is so easy to throw on a smart jacket, which makes sense. But a lot of the time, I will look at someone’s outfit, and see that they do not really care, because it gives me tattered underwear syndrome. This is when you wear a decent shell of something on top, but having a really old cami underneath. It is the equivalent of a glam look with a messy bun. Yes, some people like that look, but you still look like you did not bathe.
Here are some sustainable high quality base layers that do not give your bad habits away and put your best foot forward. If you care about the little things, you can be trusted with the bigger projects at work. That is why the military is adamant about inspecting details.
The double pleated trouser
The Mason Pant by Reformation is my favourite as of late, because there are so many options, colours, patterns on such a flattering trouser. This is an OG, timeless style that you can wear everyday, running errands, at home, and going out for an evening event looking like a million bucks. I used to think these were old man trews, but then realised they are simply old money style. You cannot go wrong with the movement that flatters your figure walking. They are also the perfect cinch for your dress shirts at work. Whether they are straight leg or wide leg cut, you will always look slimmer if you avoid a taper at the bottom.
Easy [utility] accessories
Every lady needs a pair of don’t talk to me shades. If you are going out for lunch or had a long weekend of not enough R&R, shades make you look polished and orderly. I work in real estate, and a pair of UVA & UVB sunnies are top priority, because I do not want to be squinting when conversing with colleagues or clients outside. Protect your face from wrinkles no matter what. And always have something you can store some serious paperwork in.
This means having a bag that can handle what can essentially be a put together kit of all your essentials when going out. I do not like having a small bag that does not fit all the possibilities that may go wronging my bag. Preparedness is key. But do not miss out on being chic with every detail of your life. Make everything count.
