The skincare I’m keeping are the products that help me with aging and protecting my skin from sun damage. Most of the answers to our skin care questions are usually issues of lifestyle. Namely, getting enough restful sleep, eating healthy, and proper exercise to keep our hormones balanced. Not to mention foods that mess with my hormones, such as phytoestrogen and anything with too much sugar. Red meat and dairy are also culprits of bodily hygiene. Aging is rapid when it comes to alcohol. It’s so dehydrating for every part of your body, which is why people who work out regularly detest its effects, and those who want to stay young forever and debloated avoid it. I have seen over the span of six little years – a blink of an eye in a lifetime – someone deteriorating from the inside out with nightly alcoholic rituals.
I do not mean this person was an alcoholic who couldn’t control themselves. I’m talking about a person who went out to see clients regularly for a night on the town in order to close deals. Their forehead looks like the desert now. My forehead is starting to look like this and I do not even drink haha. My stresses simply come from the pure strain people take away from me by getting in the way of my routine and achieving business goals.
This includes people barging into my office all hours of the day literally disrupting my work, but that’s another story haha.
A dear friend and fellow content creator by the name of Luke Spurgeon created a wonderful post on how to not have spots as a young gentleman. He posts a ton of videos on how to be the best version of you – if you are a young man. Personally, I think he’s a modern day warrior and has a good head on shoulders pointed in the right direction.
It’s an endless cycle of products, saving to buy the good ones, trying new things, and seeing what works when you can simply start off with integrative health. Meaning your daily routine. How you take care of your mind to naturally take are of the rest of the body.
Creating simple things like this won’t stop you from aging or make you age backwards, but science says otherwise! According to several studies, exercise:
- Makes our skin younger by increasing bloodflow, helping nourish skin cells and sending more oxygen to them to carry away waste
- When we sweat, pores open up and release toxins and build up
- It improves posture
- Improves flexibility
- Boosts mental capacity
- Slows cells aging
- Keeps our metabolism high and keeps fat burning
- Relieves stress
- Lowers cancer risks
- Boosts your immune system
- You feel good about yourself, because you also look great and all your cells feel great!
You can supplement your skin’s health with all the oils, moisturisers, serums, facials, masks, lasers, botox, and surgery in the world. But at the end of the day, if you’re not treating your body well it’s going to show.
I’m not going to completely wean off my favourite things I know that work, but I’m simplifying my skin care routine these next couple of months as you will see in my upcoming blogs and vlog posts. It’s tough when I have to be camera ready for videos or shoots, but I always find a way to let my skin breathe.
Consulting with an expert helps a lot, because they can diagnose your skin issues right away. A good dermatologist who understands your needs and sees you long term has a better chance of helping prevent any problems that pop into your head. They will be the first to let you know if something is worth worrying about.
I also love having a facialist I see regularly who is a true expert in seeing my issues that are common in others, because they have dealt with it before so many times. Rather than blindly going to the Sephora, diagnosing concerns on my own, I can find a solution in a expedited process, simply by making a worthwhile appointment.
