Think ‘What would the late Queen Elizabeth II do?’
When someone yells obscenities or rude comments in the crowd at the Queen, she never walked up to them and gave them an earful. She simply ignored the nonsense and lived her life. Who has the energy? I don’t. I have so much on my plate as it is. After all, she was a queen. She had more important things to focus on. Subscribe for The Glow Up weekly newsletter and never miss a single post!
You control yourself when you can because you can. Emotional control is your superpower and will get you through absolutely everything in this life. You get so much further when you are kind, appreciative, and simply let others be.
If someone criticises every single thing you do or say, this means you are constantly on their mind to the level of them not being able to concentrate on their own life. It means they are in a way obsessed with you. They could live a high quality life as you are. They could have a palace to call home. They could have a purpose to fulfill. They could have loved ones who they can care for, but instead they choose to channel that awful energy into hating you.
Criticising others is one of the first rules in finishing school I learnt. One is never to correct another. You are always gracious and forgiving.
Instead of being kind to others, exercising to get their brain functioning properly, and worrying about their own problems, haters try to bring you down to their level. This is crazy to me, because I can’t even imagine not having something fulfilling to prioritise! Personally, I’m always distracted by the next meeting, the next dinner, the next get together, chores – the list goes on forever and will keep going on.
Tearing someone down should never cross your mind, because adults who hold themselves accountable by controlling their actions do not act this way. Queens and kings remain unbothered and have the freedom to walk away, because they are committed to bigger and better things.
Spreading angry messages online is also a sign that someone is deeply unhappy with themselves. It has proven over and over again that huge online personas will receive hate all day on the internet, but in person, people will come up to them to shake their hand and say thank you for what they are doing.
The world is a mirror. Smile and it will smile back.
