Why I HATE Black Friday

All week has been busy, but not as productive.

I received over what feels like a thousand notifications each day on Black Friday deals, not just from stores, but from women trying to sell me something when I’m trying to focus on my clients. It’s to the point that people are texting me and I have to ignore everyone to focus on what I’m currently concentrating on.

I’m in the zone. Don’t take me out.

Don’t ask me if I want tea. Don’t show me a meme on Insta. Don’t ask me a quick favor. Don’t tell me something that needs to be done right now, because I’m doing something else that needs to be done RIGHT NOW. This is all I will focus on right now.

Multi tasking is another way of saying, “I want to half ass my way through.”

I can multi task for those who are wondering, but choose not to. Because that is not my job. I need to focus on one person at a time and give them my full attention.

My phone and computer are my access to my world, so if you’re getting in the way of me contacting the right people, you’re going to get shut off.

Not only is it a huge holiday and I’m trying to keep up with the conversation with my family while tending to your Instagram problems, but now there’s a ton of extra emails blowing me up because this is their time of year to make money. Honey, every time of year is time to make money.

If you need a crutch that gives you a “high season”, go for it and take advantage. Just know you’re hindering me from people who actually need my help. People don’t realize my job is INTERNATIONAL.

Not only am I dealing with multiple time zones, but my clients don’t understand the importance of Thanksgiving. I took one day off, and that’s enough to throw me into chaos. The day after Thanksgiving I’m getting to work.

Get out of my face. Out of my way.

Now that my phone is turned off because I need to truly sit down and work, the people who need me can’t reach me. Sometimes you just need to block the whole world out, including the important people, because

  1. mental health
  2. I really do need to work and be productive
  3. it’s a holiday
  4. I have a lot on my plate as it is

If you are simply trying to reach me to wish me a happy Thanksgiving, I’ll respond later.
